Hitachi's 4 1/2" grinders are a best buy in my opinion; they are the equal of Makita or Bosch in quality. The battery-powered grinder by Hitachi appears heavy-duty and lacks the automatic shutoff of the Makita battery grinder which is a problem in using the Makita. The Dewalt grinder is oversized but works well. Battery powered grinders are scarce but useful when equipped with a cut-off wheel--should be kept in each service truck. Availability of non-slide-on batteries is a problem however since slide-ons are now the norm with Hitachi and others, even though the slide-on design is inherently inferior (gets stuck on the tool). Reconditioned Sales is a very good source for the best deals on these tools.
